Introducing Body Calm: A Conversation with the Women Behind the Innovation

At Attn: Grace, every product we launch is rooted in real-life needs and thoughtful care, and our latest addition is no exception. Join Co-Founder Alexandra Fennell and Chief of Staff Liza Green as they discuss the inspiration behind Body Calm, a first-of-its-kind intimate skin spray designed to keep you feeling fresh and fierce between showers, after intimacy, while traveling, or following your favorite workout (spin, anyone?) Let’s dive in!

Liza: At Attn: Grace, we are very careful about what earns a spot in our lineup, but here we are talking about a new product! Why was it so important for us to launch Body Calm—and why now?

Alex: Body Calm exists because there’s a very real moment between “a full shower” and “I need to feel clean and comfortable right now.” For anyone navigating bladder leaks, postpartum recovery, periods, workouts, travel, or long days at a desk, that moment matters, but there really aren’t any solutions out there. Body Calm is our ultra-gentle, rinse-free way to help remove bacteria on the vulva and perineum—the places leaks and moisture like to linger—so you can feel fresh, supported, and calm without disrupting your day.

Liza: This is our first foray into hypocholorous acid, though it’s quite a buzzy ingredient. What is this ingredient and what can it do?

Alex: Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is a gentle antimicrobial your body naturally makes (via white blood cells) to help keep skin clean and calm. In products, it’s a pH-balanced, water-based solution—typically made from salt, water, and a touch of electricity—that’s non-irritating and residue-free. Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) has historically lived in wound care and, more recently, face mists—not in a purpose-built, rinse-free intimate cleanser. Body Calm bridges that gap: a pH-balanced, ultra-gentle HOCl spray made specifically for external intimate skin, so you can reset between showers without fragrance, sting, or residue.

In our new Body Calm Spray, HOCl helps you:

  • Remove bacteria on external skin (vulva/perineum) that can contribute to odor, irritation and an increased risk of UTIs.

  • Support the skin’s natural repair process after minor abrasions, chafing, or friction.

  • Do it all gently—no stinging, no dryness—when formulated at the right pH and stability.

Body Calm captures these benefits in a clean, simple formula we can’t wait for you to try!

Liza: Connect the dots for us. What exactly is the relationship between UTIs, bacteria, and bladder leaks?

Alex: Most UTIs start when bacteria from the skin or rectal area make their way into the urethra and up to the bladder. Moisture, friction, and residue (including from bladder leaks or pads if they become oversaturated) can increase bacterial buildup around the vulva and perineum.

Keeping that external intimate area clean and dry isn’t a guarantee against UTIs, but it’s a healthy, supportive habit—especially if you’re prone to irritation or odor between showers.

Editor’s note: Using high-quality absorbent products specifically designed for urine leaks (like ours) can help mitigate oversaturation or skin irritation that may lead to UTIs.

Liza: So, using Body Calm can help combat that bacterial buildup that sometimes leads to UTIs. That sounds like something we can all use more of. So, how do you use Body Calm—and is it Skin-SafeTM like the rest of Attn: Grace?

Alex: The need to stay clean “down there” on the go is basically universal. In addition to being OB-GYN recommended and Skin-Safe™, it’s super easy to use Body Calm, and it is pH-balanced, rinse-free, and fast-drying. To use:

1. Spray directly and generously onto external skin (vulva/perineum or any area that needs a refresh).

2. Let it air-dry for a few seconds—no need to rinse.

3. Use as often as you like: after leaks, workouts, sex, shaving/waxing, or whenever you want a gentle clean.

Important: External use only. Don’t spray inside the vagina or urethra. If you’re sensitive, patch-test on a small area first.

Liza: When should someone see a doctor instead of reaching for the spray?

Alex: Body Calm is not a treatment for UTIs or any other medical condition. See a clinician promptly if you have classic UTI symptoms (burning with urination, urgency, frequency, pelvic pain) or any other medical problems.

If you’ve been looking for something that’s actually gentle, actually effective, and designed for the realities of your day, our new Body Calm Spray is it. Try it out and be sure to let us know what you think!
